Extensive global experience obtained on the ground in North, South, and Central America, Europe, Asia and South Africa.

Current president of the YWCA – a non-profit whose mission is to empower women and reduce racism.

Sandy Bartlett

Director of Human Resources | Avi Resort & Casino

Sandy Bartlett is currently the Director of Human Resources at Avi Resort and Casino in Laughlin, NV. She is an HR Professional with over 30 years in experience. Her focus on people and education provides valuable insight in employee relations, benefits, and risk management.

Sandy holds a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management from National University in Costa Mesa, CA. Sandy is also an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and maintains a certification as a Life/Health Coach and is currently working on a mastery level certification in Transformational Coaching Method. In addition to her engagement in her professional career, Sandy has served her community where she focused on the success in women leadership by coordinating retreats and support groups.  

Sandy is passionate about the power of empathy and helping people. With a proven record of success, Sandy continues to make a difference in employee relations.

Jennifer Kenney

Director – Learning & Development, Grand Sierra Resort & Casino

After surpassing all her a career goals as a beverage operations leader in the global cruise industry, Jen set the anchor and became a permanent land-dweller in 2015, pivoting her career to focus exclusively on L&D while raising her family near her Northern California origins. Her specialized toolbox of skills includes; hospitality, guest service, event management, middle management development and team building. Her successful international project delivery in Asia, Australia, Central America and Europe included the communications and training of over 3000 team members representing nearly 50 different nationalities spread out over 18 different cruise ships. Her style of using humor, visualization, collaboration and easy-access technology helps create memorable workplace culture and a universal compulsion to exude pride in every level of service role.

As a lifelong learner, Jen understands that not everyone is or needs to be an expert. For that reason, Jen’s husband does all the family cooking. Her favorite pastimes include exploring the local hiking trails near Lake Tahoe and enjoying time with people who find the little things in life humorous and fabulous.

Karen Goforth

Vice President – Human Resources, Grand Sierra Resort & Casino

With over 20 years of progressive experience in the HR field and a combined 25 years spent dedicated to the hospitality industry, Karen has overseen projects from strategizing labor optimization to full scale 2800 personnel resort/casino opening operations. She has invested her career in the ongoing knowledge and elevation of all HR divisions including compensation, benefits, team member relations, risk management, labor contracts and leadership development. Her “boots on the ground” work ethic creates a strong team culture and helps her quickly identify opportunities to provide the best HR experience for all involved.

Born in Melbourne, Australia and a long-time resident of Northern Nevada, Karen is known for her sense of humor, her love of the outdoors and fondness for attending art festivals.
